On October 15, 2020, the Republic of Panama promulgated Executive Decree 722, by which a new sub-category is added to permanent residences for economic reasons for those foreigners who, as Qualified Investors, make a minimum investment of Five Hundred Thousand (500,000.00) United States Dollars, in the country, either personally or through a Limited Company, as the final beneficiary of the shares.
With this new sub category, the Panamanian government seeks to inject more foreign capital in Real Estate investments, Panamanian Stock Market, and Fixed Term Deposits in the Panamanian Banking for a minimum period of 5 years.
The investment must first be endorsed by the Panamanian Ministry of Commerce and Industries so that the necessary requirements for the Permanent Residence permit are met, in addition to that it must send annually to the National Immigration Service a certification that the foreign investment is still valid, until a term of 5 years.
